Physician Assistant - Sports Medicine


The Physician Assistant will work closely with our team of orthopedic surgeons, providing care both in the clinic and operating room (OR). This role involves evaluating and treating patients, assisting in surgeries, and managing pre- and post-operative care. The ideal candidate will have a passion for orthopedics and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinic Duties:
    • Conduct initial evaluations, follow-up visits, and consultations for orthopedic patients.
    • Perform physical exams, order diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, MRIs), and interpret results to develop treatment plans.
    • Manage patient care, including administering injections, casting, splinting, and other orthopedic procedures as needed.
    • Educate patients and families about treatment plans, post-operative care, rehabilitation, and injury prevention.
    • Prescribe medications and physical therapy as appropriate under physician supervision.
    • Coordinate with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Operating Room (OR) Assistance:
    • Assist in a variety of orthopedic surgeries.
    • Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are prepared for procedures.
    • Provide hands-on assistance during surgeries, including suturing, wound closure, and other surgical tasks as directed by the supervising surgeon.
    • Monitor patients intra-operatively to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Pre- and Post-Operative Care:
    • Conduct pre-operative evaluations, including reviewing medical history, performing physical exams, and explaining surgical procedures to patients.
    • Assist with post-operative care, including wound management, monitoring recovery progress, and coordinating discharge planning.
    • Follow up with patients post-surgery to assess healing, manage complications, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
