Physician Assistant (Plastic Surgery)- New York, NY


Spine Search is looking for a highly motivated, experienced surgical physician assistant to join a private practice's plastic surgery team. This practice focuses on craniofacial deformities and works directly with children and adults. 

Responsibilities: 

  1. Preoperative Assessment: This involves evaluating patients before surgery, reviewing medical histories, conducting physical examinations, and ordering necessary tests or consultations.

  2. Assisting in Surgery: PAs may assist the plastic surgeon during surgical procedures by performing tasks such as suturing, managing bleeding, and ensuring proper surgical techniques are followed.

  3. Postoperative Care: PAs often provide postoperative care to patients, which includes monitoring their recovery, managing pain, changing dressings, and educating patients on postoperative care instructions.

  4. Patient Education: They educate patients about the procedures they will undergo, including risks, benefits, and expected outcomes. They also provide instructions for preoperative and postoperative care.

  5. Follow-Up Care: PAs may conduct follow-up appointments to assess the progress of patients after surgery, remove sutures, address any complications, and ensure optimal healing.

  6. Administrative Duties: This can involve tasks such as maintaining patient records, assisting with scheduling surgeries, coordinating with other healthcare providers, and handling billing and insurance-related matters.

  7. Collaboration with the Surgical Team: PAs work closely with plastic surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team to ensure seamless patient care and efficient surgical procedures.

Requirements: 

  • Seeking someone with 2-3 years of surgical experience directly in the OR
  • NYS license 
  • Board certification
  • Must be flexible going to 2 different locations
